ENVision Appreciation EveningCategory: Forums/ Seminars
After 19 dialogue sessions reaching out to a total of 440 individuals including SMU verts and across different stakeholder groups, Singapore Environment Council has put together our views and feedback in their Vision Statement and Report, which was unveiled at the event.
It was also presented to Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, for consideration in the review of the Sustainable Singapore Blueprint which will be completed by the end of the year 2014.
During the session Dr Vivian shared that: We as humans are very vulnerable creatures that have only a small and insignificant chapter on the Earth’s history, and in the course of our conservation efforts, we are essentially saving not Mother Earth but ourselves. He also highlighted three issues mainly that we are facing right now, climate change, pollution and food/energy/water sustainability.
He recapped on the purpose of ENVision exercise, drawing reference to humans who invent to adapt over the period of our time on earth. And in the course of inventing, we have created the Visioning statement as a stepping stone for our actions. And why its necessary to be engaged in our communities for the shared eco-sphere that we live in and can’t just depend on individuals due to our shared spaces and resources.See More Photos
